Mass of the Children – April performance features St Alban’s School Choir

This April, pupils from St Alban’s Catholic High School join Trianon Music Group to perform John Rutter’s Mass of the Children.
As a school chorister, John Rutter performed Britten’s War Requiem. His Mass of the Children was written to recapture this feeling of a work which brings together children and adults, resulting in a composition, which has rapidly been taken up by choirs the world over.
First performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall on 13 February 2003, John Rutter’s Mass of the Children takes the form of a short mass with 5 movements:
Kyrie
Gloria
Sanctus and Benedictus
Agnus Dei
Finale (Dona nobis pacem)
Written for mixed choir, soprano and baritone soloists and orchestra we are delighted to be working with St Albans Catholic High School children’s choir for this lovely and moving work. The words are drawn from both the Latin Mass texts and Thomas Ken’s renowned morning and evening hymns for Winchester College and the work reflects idea of a complete day, from waking to sleeping.
We are looking forward to working with the choir and also with soloists Muriel Kwint (mezzo-soprano), Tim Gillott (baritone) for this special performance.
