Letter from Joy Baker at Mistley
Community Concert on Saturday, 11th May, 2019
On behalf of the Rector and PCC of the Church of St. Mary & St. Michael, Mistley with Manningtree, I’d like to thank you for your kindness in providing your string orchestra and choir members for the charity concert on 11th May.
We regularly have concerts held in the Church, sometimes by the Stour Choral Society or other groups, for their own charities, but this is the first fundraising concert for our own Church in some five years. I was concerned because the tickets were selling so slowly, but I needn’t have worried as the good people of this area turned out to fill the pews.
The audience were delighted with the variety of the programme, especially including old Suffolk folk tunes, sung a capella, and songs from the musical Carousel.
All in all this was a good evening, with over 100 paying guests, including a number from our local residential home. After expenses we made a profit of £950.
Again, thank you,
Sincerely,
Joy Baker
