Aviva Tour of Britain comes to Ipswich!

The Aviva Tour of Britain Stage 7 finishes in Ipswich on 12 September!
It’s exciting news for Ipswich as the UCI Hour Record holder and 2012 Tour de France Champion Sir Bradley Wiggins and Taylor Phinney of the BMC Racing Team are the latest star riders to confirm that they will be on the start line for the Aviva Tour of Britain, which begins this Sunday (6 September) from Beaumaris in North Wales.

Why not make a day of it and stay on for our Trianon Ipswich Prom concert? The concert starts at 7.30pm at the Ipswich Corn Exchange and is the perfect end to an exciting day in the town. Come along at 6.40pm and enjoy pre-concert busking to raise funds for the Bridge School playground appeal.

The cycling event means that some roads in Ipswich will be closed during Saturday 12 September
Road closures
Motorists can expect delays and diversions while Ipswich prepares for the race.
A rolling road closure along most of the route (Wherstead Road, Hawes Street and Vernon Street) will commence 15 minutes ahead of the riders arriving and will be lifted about 5 minutes later after the support vehicles following the riders have passed.
The following roads will be closed in Ipswich from 00:01 on Saturday 12 September until 23:59 on Saturday 12 September:
• Civic Drive from Elm Street
• Franciscan Way from Wolsey Street
• Princes Street from Grafton Way
• Princes Street from Friars Street
Diversions will be in place throughout this period.
The following road will be closed from 3.00pm until 3.45pm on Saturday 12 September:
Burrell Road from NCP Car Park through to Station Bridge
